I'm running for Mayor because I've spent the last several years doing the work of local advocacy — writing the emails, showing up to the meetings, and following up when no one called back.
My platform focuses on making city government more responsive, protecting residents, and using practical solutions to improve everyday life in Carlsbad.
A City That Answers
When a resident contacts the city with a legitimate concern, they deserve a real reply within days, not silence for weeks.
I will push for published response-time standards, a case-tracking system so no request falls through the cracks, and regular accountability on how quickly departments actually close the loop.
Safety and Dignity for Our Seniors
Our older residents built this community. Senior emergency preparedness should be a standing commitment.
As a Community Emergency Response Team member, I brought the Carlsbad Fire Department into our community and organized a safety seminar so seniors could better understand what to do in an emergency.
The Safety Threat Too Few Are Talking About
The nightly freight train carrying toxic chemicals through Carlsbad is identified in the campaign document as a major safety concern.
I will push for coordinated planning with rail operators and county emergency services, a real response plan, and honest communication with residents about the risk and how it is being addressed.
Public Safety and Homelessness
Compassion means not giving up. We will enforce the public nuisance laws already on the books, laws that exist but aren't being used. That means real consequences for behavior that harms our community, and it means people who need help finally facing a real choice between treatment and consequences, instead of a city that does nothing.
Housing on Our Terms
Carlsbad will meet its housing obligations on our terms, not Sacramento's. We will identify and designate sites that satisfy our state housing requirements, on inland and appropriate parcels, not by forcing dense development onto coastal neighborhoods that were never designed for it. We do not accept the state's original number as fair or accurate, but we will act in good faith to comply within a reasonable timeframe, on our terms.
If developers decline to build on the sites we designate, that is a market decision, not a failure of this city's planning. If the state believes the need is truly as urgent as it claims, it is welcome to bring its own resources and its own developers to build on the land we've made available.
Infrastructure and Streets That Protect People
From the Carlsbad Boulevard and Cannon Road corridor to aging sewer lines, infrastructure decisions are safety decisions.
When the city reshapes a road, the question should be simple: does it make residents and pedestrians safer, or simply move traffic faster?
Smarter Services Through Practical Technology
The campaign platform proposes using practical technology to help a small city team accomplish more.

I will insist that projects affecting residential or senior neighborhoods come with a clear, communicated safety plan before work begins.
Protecting Our Beach and Quality of Life
Our beach parking belongs to the residents and families who use our coast.
The campaign platform calls for sensible limits on massive RVs that take up significant stretches of parking and for continued attention to oversized aircraft noise over the coastline.
